Store Size Cap Ordinance
Hundreds of communities have enacted zoning rules that prohibit stores over a certain size. Store size caps help to ensure a diverse and competitive retail sector by not allowing a few large stores to dominate the local market. They foster small-scale, pedestrian-oriented business development and prevent the many negative impacts of big-box stores, such as increased traffic and over-burdened public infrastructure.
